Hi JennJilks
Congratulations! You've made an excellent decision about trying medical marijuana for your anxiety and depression. While everyone's experience of this is different, I am happy to share mine with you.
A new psychiatrist helped wean me off a lethal (for me) cocktail of antidepressant/antianxiolitic medications about 18 months ago. I started, and have stayed with, micro-doses of CBD tincture, which have increased, very slightly, over that time. The most I have ever taken, at any one time, is just under half a dropper-full. This is still considered to be a small dose. I take it as and when I need it - by day or night. Some days, it may be once, others three or four times. This CANNOT be dispensed at regular intervals like regular medications. It is highly idiosyncratic, which is maybe why some doctors, like yours, find prescribing it problematic.
Since starting this, my lifelong depression (which was diagnosed as "treatment-resistant") is 90% under control. The anxiety, which is largely situational, lingers on but is kept well under control with the CBD, which also relieves the severe neuropathic pain I suffer from. A real bonus!
I take only pure CBD, with virtually no THC in it, so there are absolutely no side effects. It is completely non- hallucinogenic. I did try the THC for sleep problems a couple of times , but really didn't like the affect it had on me! I do want to stress, again, that everyone's reaction to medical marijuana is different. I am guided by the advice of my excellent psychiatrist, who also treats me with psychotherapy. A combination that is proving miraculous for me. I can strongly recommend it, and hope you are fortunate enough to find equal help.
I have also found a great on-line resource that I turn to with questions: it's a closed Face- book group you can join called cannabis oil success stories. A treasure trove of
Information, coupled with a group of incredibly supportive and helpful people.
I do hope that I have answered at least some of your questions and wish you every success with this stage of your journey. Please do get in touch if you have any further concerns.
Best,
